“He’s not much of a threat,” Azazel says about Dean the day he crosses the name John Winchester off of Hell’s most-wanted list. All flash and no substance, John’s eldest is an apple that’s not even in the same orchard as his father’s tree. Azazel makes his plans for Sam without giving his brother a second thought.
It’s not until the bullet’s racing toward him that he realizes his mistake. Dean’s eyes are hard, his finger steady on the trigger, and the demon’s epiphany comes far too late. Dean is his father’s son. This apple never even left the branch.
