Chaos

Title: Chaos
Author: tifaching
Prompt: #2  at the April Showers Drabbleathon at
[info]day_by_drabble
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters: Sam Winchester, Ruby
Genre: Gen'
Rating: PG
Word count: 100
Summary:  Ruby's taken Sam a long way.

He's nearly ready.

Ruby smiles as Sam reaches out- eyes cold and hard.  He pulls the demon from its host, consigns it to eternal oblivion and his face shows only triumph.  No guilt or pain- he’s so much stronger now.

Ruby’s triumph is even greater, but she keeps that to herself.  The lost, broken man she’d dragged from his cocoon all those months ago has grown, fed on the sweet nectar of anger and revenge, nourished by the power of her blood.

When her butterfly flaps his wings, it will bring more than chaos.  It will bring hell on earth.

My problems with Ruby stemmed mostly from the poor acting ability of the two women who played her. When you look back at her character though....damn. She played on Sam's desperation to save Dean and then on his despair after he couldn't. When Dean came back she still had her claws in Sam, whispering in his ear that Dean was weak, broken, unable to save himself or the world. She was right in her final lines. She was awesome!

You sound exactly like me - my problem with Ruby was the acting abilities of the two women who portrayed her. I hated Ruby 1.0... until I met Ruby 2.0. I don't like S3 Ruby by any stretch of the imagination in terms of acting, but she was definitely way better than S4 Ruby.

But poor acting aside, Ruby as a CHARACTER... damn. She was awesome. And hardcore. She was actually phenomenal in her manipulation and getting her claws into Sam, playing into Sam's character flaws - his desperation, his despair.... and then toying with his concepts and perceptions of Post-Hell Dean. On paper and conceptually speaking, I kind of have a love-affair with Ruby. It's just a shame she didn't transcribe well visually.
